Ashtar Tours Explores Ajloun on Fam Trip

Updated: Oct 29, 2024

Recently, our Ashtar Tours team had the exciting opportunity to join the CBI Fam Trip to Ajloun, a hidden gem in the northern highlands of Jordan. This trip was not just about sightseeing; it was about getting to know the heart and soul of this beautiful region and connecting with friendly locals. With its lush landscapes, rich history, and warm hospitality, Ajloun quickly captured our hearts.

A Homey Welcome: Mohammad Dweikat Guest House

Our journey began at the Mohammad Dweikat Guest House, a cozy place run by Mohammad and his family. Located along the famous Jordan Trail, this guest house felt like a warm hug after our travels. Mohammad, a knowledgeable local guide, welcomed us like old friends, sharing stories about the trail and the stunning scenery around us. His kindness and the warmth of his family made us feel right at home, setting a wonderful tone for the trip.

Breakfast Delight:

Bait Al-Mouneh

Breakfast was a highlight of our stay, thanks to Bait Al-Mouneh. Imagine sitting down to a table filled with traditional dishes made from fresh local ingredients, all prepared by a friendly host. The flavors of Ajloun's delicious cuisine made each bite a treat. We also had the chance to shop for mouneh items—tasty dried herbs and pickles made from Ajloun’s abundant lands. Supporting local producers felt like a meaningful way to connect with the community.

Charming Stays: Ajloun Hotel and Ajloun Castle Hotel

Ajloun has several charming places to stay that truly reflect the area’s spirit. We visited the Ajloun Hotel, where friendly staff greeted us with smiles and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Next, we explored the Ajloun Castle Hotel, a cozy spot with beautiful views of the historic Ajloun Castle. Both hotels offer a warm welcome and are perfect for travelers looking for comfort without spending a lot.

Fun Agritourism Experiences

One of the most enjoyable parts of our trip was diving into agritourism. Thanks to Bookagri, we connected with local farmers and took part in hands-on experiences. We tried making soap, wandered through lemon orchards, and learned how to make Kishk Laban, a type of fermented yogurt. Each activity was not only fun but also gave us a chance to appreciate the hard work of local farmers. It was a great way to support the community and celebrate Ajloun’s agricultural traditions.

A Special Visit to Dar Ne'meh Ajloun

Another memorable stop was Dar Ne'meh Ajloun, a wonderful place run by The Princess Taghrid Institute for Development and Training (PTI). This organization helps orphaned and abandoned girls gain skills and support. At Dar Ne'meh, we enjoyed tasty meals and learned about the important work being done to help these young women. The combination of good food and cultural learning made this experience especially meaningful.

A Spiritual Journey: Our Lady of the Mount Mission

Our adventure also took us to Our Lady of the Mount Mission Catholic Church in Anjara. This historic site is believed to have been visited by Jesus and his disciples, making it a special pilgrimage site. The church’s peaceful atmosphere gave us a moment to reflect, and we were touched by the orphanage, school, and simple accommodations that provide meals to those in need. This visit deepened our appreciation for the rich culture and faith that define Ajloun.

The CBI Fam Trip to Ajloun was a fantastic opportunity for our team at Ashtar Tours. It was more than just a getaway; it was a journey of connection, discovery, and inspiration. We left with our hearts full and minds buzzing with ideas on how to share this beautiful region with our travelers. Ajloun offers not just adventure but also real experiences that allow visitors to engage with the local community. We’re excited to bring these unique offerings to our guests, ensuring they too can experience the magic of Ajloun.
